The Brazilian premium extra virgin olive oil brand Sabiá has received the highest recognition in one of the world’s most prestigious competitions. At the EVO International Olive Oil Contest (EVO IOOC) 2026, held in Calabria, Italy, its monovarietal extra virgin olive oil Coratina was awarded as the Best Olive Oil of the Southern Hemisphere, reinforcing Sabiá’s position as a benchmark of excellence on both the national and international stage.
The contest, renowned for bringing together the finest extra virgin olive oils from the global market, gathered in this edition 786 samples from 32 countries, including 115 Brazilian oils. This result confirms EVO IOOC as one of the most relevant awards in the olive oil world and strengthens Sabiá’s role as the leading Brazilian brand in the competition.
Four gold medals and dominance among monovarietals
In addition to the top prize, all four samples submitted by Sabiá were awarded gold medals:
Monovarietal Category – Southern Hemisphere: Sabiá extra virgin olive oils from the Coratina, Picual and Koroneiki varieties.
Blend Category: Sabiá extra virgin olive oil Blend de Terroir.
The founders and producers of the Grupo Sabiá, Bia Pereira and Bob Costa, emphasize that these recognitions are the result of rigorous and passionate work: “These awards confirm that we are on the right path and celebrate a journey built with passion, dedication, knowledge and quality. Behind a great product there is a strict process: careful harvesting, impeccable hygiene and fast transport to the mill are the true secrets of our excellence.”
Brazilian pioneering spirit and national recognition
In the same week, Sabiá olive oil was also selected, for the second consecutive year, as a finalist in the CNA Brasil Artesanal Award 2026 – Olive Oil, in the Blend category. The award is promoted by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), which represents Brazilian rural producers of small, medium and large scale.
In this edition, 95 producers from all over the country took part, and Sabiá will participate in the popular voting stage, which will determine the winner. In the first edition of the award, Sabiá Blend had already been elected the best blend in Brazil.
Story and identity of Azeite Sabiá
The story of Sabiá began in 2014, when the couple behind the brand fell in love with the world of olive growing. In 2020, they launched the first commercial harvest of Sabiá extra virgin olive oil and, in just six years, the brand has accumulated 186 international awards, gaining worldwide recognition for the quality of its products.
Production takes place in two regions of excellence: Santo Antônio do Pinhal (São Paulo), in the Serra da Mantiqueira, and in the Serra do Sudeste, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The two farms are managed by partner and agronomist Emanuel De Costa, who, together with owners Bia Pereira and Bob Costa, has always sought knowledge and innovation in the places of greatest production excellence.
Since 2024, Sabiá has relied on the consultancy of Nicolangelo Marsicani, known in Italy as the “poet of olive oils”, and Micheli Siniscalchi. The two experts travel to Brazil during the extraction period and, alongside Emanuel De Costa, are responsible for overseeing and continuously elevating the quality of Sabiá olive oil.
Thanks to the combination of unique terroirs, technical expertise and a constant pursuit of excellence, Sabiá stands today as one of the most awarded and innovative brands in contemporary Brazilian olive growing.
