Marsicani & Friends at Olivitalymed 2026

A sensory and cultural journey into olive oil excellence, through territories, tasting masters and new forms of storytelling.

Extra virgin olive oil is not simply a product: it is a living narrative made of people, generations, territories, and traditions that today find new forms of expression. This vision shaped the third edition of OlivitalyMed, the event dedicated to the excellence of extra virgin olive oil and Mediterranean flavors, which on May 8 gathered experts, journalists, and institutional representatives at the Castle of Rocca Cilento to reflect on the future of Evo Oil.

At the heart of the discussion was the concept of a “New Era of Evo,” introduced by Maurizio Saggion, one of Italy’s leading experts. He described a new phase in olive oil storytelling—one that cannot be separated from its deep connection to the land. Journalist Angelo Cirasa echoed this idea, highlighting how product?focused events can promote the territories they represent and guide tourism toward lesser?known destinations.

Writer Cinzia Scaffidi, author of “Il senso dell’olio,” noted that olive oil communication has not yet reached the same level of originality and distinctiveness achieved by food and wine, though a transformation is clearly underway. During the event, the “Stefano Sgueglia Award” was also presented in memory of Maestro Peppe Vessicchio, honoring his essential contribution to the event through his knowledge and sensitivity in the world of “knowledge and flavors.” The award was received by his wife, Errica Mormile.

The relationship between product and territory was further expressed through the cuisine of Salvatore Notaro, executive chef of the Castle of Rocca Cilento, who presented traditional Cilento dishes enhanced by local ingredients.

The core of this edition was the masterclass curated by Oleum, an extraordinary sensory journey that guided participants through the art of olive oil. Through sensory analysis, the oils became true narrative tools, capable of expressing the identity, climate, and culture of their places of origin.

Michele Siniscalchi Montereale presented the oils of the great Apulia by Maria Francesca di Martino, showcasing the region’s rich varietal heritage and aromatic depth. Marco Rizzo led participants into the warmth of Sicily through the oils of Miceli & Sensat, reflecting a land that is both sunny and complex. Finally, Nicolangelo Marsicani introduced Sabà, Brazilian oils that surprised the audience with an international perspective expanding the horizons of olive?oil culture.

A masterclass that went far beyond tasting: an immersive experience, a journey through territories narrated by their oils, blending technique, emotion, and knowledge.
